Abstract

This study aims to discuss the value of tolerance in Muhammad's personality through an analysis of the "Conquest of Mecca." Using a method that re-examines the socio-historical context of the religions involved in the incident, this study aims to help resolve the conflict between plurality and strong religious nuances in the current heterogeneous society. In the life of society, indeed, there are still many stories in the Quran that, textually, have the potential to encourage various actions that ultimately lead to negative conflict. The idea of deradicalization of people's understanding of the Quran, particularly various stories in it that can be misunderstood, is essential so that the people will not be encouraged to commit acts of violence in the name of religion. Reaffirming the peaceful and tolerant face of religions must be a common commitment, without having fear of losing their identity toward other religious communities. Indeed, Islamic teachings have promoted tolerance, allowing anyone to embrace their faith, thereby fostering peace and harmony in religious life. The results of this study will describe the basis and principles of tolerance through the "Conquest of Mecca."
